Redodo 140Ah Lithium Battery Upgrade: KimAnn Chessa’s Off-Grid RV AC Story
For RV traveler KimAnn Chessa, summer boondocking came with one major challenge: staying cool without relying on campground hookups.
Her existing air conditioner required shore power, while her 200Ah lithium battery bank and 210W rooftop solar system were not enough to support extended off-grid AC use. Why I Needed a Better Off-Grid RV Battery Setup
My ideal camper life is about being out in nature and staying completely off-grid. But during the summer, that became difficult.
My old air conditioner only worked when I was plugged into shore power. On hot boondocking nights, my dog would be panting and I could barely sleep. Sometimes the heat basically forced me back into a campground.
I already had 200Ah of lithium batteries, 210W of rooftop solar, and a DC-to-DC charger, but I needed more power if I wanted to run an air conditioner and stay off-grid for longer.

Why I Chose Redodo for My RV Power Setup
Redodo provided me with four 140Ah lithium batteries, giving me 560Ah of total battery capacity—180% more than I had before.
Space was a major concern because my camper is small. Two of the Redodo batteries fit inside my existing battery compartment without taking up more room than my previous batteries, and the other two were installed under the dinette.
The batteries also include Bluetooth monitoring, so I can check their status in real time. They also have low-temperature protection and a five-year warranty.
For my camper, getting more battery capacity without needing a much larger battery space was one of the biggest advantages.
My Redodo Battery Setup and Real-World Results

After the upgrade, my system included 560Ah of Redodo lithium battery capacity, 500W of rooftop solar, two external solar ports supporting another 600W, and my existing DC-to-DC charger.
There were a few installation challenges, especially fitting everything into such a small camper, but once the system was completed, I finally had the off-grid AC setup I had been working toward.
During a couple of extremely hot days in Quartzsite, Arizona, I ran the air conditioner for 24 hours without plugging into shore power.
The next morning, my batteries were still at 47%.
That was the result that mattered most to me. I could finally keep my camper cool without having to stay connected to a campground.
