FAQ

Q: 1.How long will a 100Ah battery last?

A:

The amount of time your applications will run depends on the battery's energy (Wh) and the application's power. You can calculate it using this formula: Run Time (hours) = Battery energy (Wh) / power (W).

For example, If your load power is 100W and you have a 100Ah battery(1280Wh), the calculation would be: Run Time = 1280Ah / 100W= 12.8 hours, which is approximately 12 hour and 48 minutes.

So, with a 100Ah battery, your 100W application will run for about 12 hour and 48 minutes.

Q: 2.What will be the maximum charging current for the 100Ah battery? Can l connect it in series to my existing SLA battery?

A:

Redodo 12V 100Ah batteries have a maximum charge current of 100A. but we usually recommend charging the batteries at a charge multiplier of 0.2C, which is 20A.We do not recommend connecting batteries of different brands and models in series and parallel. Because each brand of the battery cell is different, the nominal voltage and capacity is not the same, it will lead to voltage imbalance, which will produce a potential safety hazard.

Q: 3.Which would be better, one Redodo 12V 200Ah battery or two Redodo 12V 100Ah batteries?

A:

Two Redodo 12V 100Ah lithium batteries in parallel and a single Redodo 12V 200Ah battery battery have the same capacity. However using only one battery in the system will make for better consistency and more stable performance, and use less wire, and be smaller in size.

Q: 4. ls it okay to install the Redodo batteries on their side (label up/down) for use in an array in an RV?

A:

Redodo 12V 100Ah battery can support side placement, just make sure the back and top of the battery are not placed facing down.

Q: 5. l have Redodo 12.8v 100ah being used in an out-uninsulated building temp. Could this battery get 0 to-20F for about 2 or 3 days?

A:

The recommended operating temperature of our 12V 100Ah battery is:
Charge: 0℃ to 50℃ / 32℉ to 122℉
Discharge: -20℃ to 60℃ / -4℉ to 140℉
Storage: -10℃ to 50℃ / 14℉ to 122℉
The battery can be discharged at 32°F, but we do not recommend charging the battery.

Q: 9. Can 2 Redodo 12V 100Ah lithium batteries be used in series for a 24 volt trolling motor?

A:

Many of our customers use 2 of Redodo 12V(12.8V) 100Ah LiFePO4 batteries connecting in series for their 24V trolling motor, and it works well. But it is also depends on the power of the trolling motor. One of our Redodo 12V 100Ah LiFePO4 batteries could support 100A max. continuous charge/discharge current, 1280W max. load power, and 1280Wh max. energy. Connecting two of Redodo 12V 100Ah LiFePO4 batteries in series will build a 24V(25.6V) 100Ah battery system, which could support 100A max. continuous charge/discharge current, 2560W max. load power, and 2560Wh max. energy.

Q: 10. Is it possible to charge two batteries in series at the same time with only one charger?

A:

Yes, 1 charger could works for 2pcs Redodo 12V(12.8V) 100Ah LiFePO4 batteries which connected in series. One 12V 100Ah LiFePO4 battery built-in 100A BMS, which could support 100A max. continuous charge/discharge current, 1280W max. continuous load power, and 1280Wh max. energy. Connected 2pcs of those 100Ah batteries in series will build a 24V(25.6V) 100Ah battery system, which could support 100A max. continuous charge/discharge current, 2560W max. continuous load power, and 2560Wh max. energy. Regarding the charger for the 24V 100Ah battery system, we recommend a dedicated LiFePO4 battery charger, the DC charging voltage should be between 28.4V~29.2V and charging current less than 100A (usually, we recommend the current of 0.2C, which means 20A, and it will take around 5hrs to fully charge the battery system).

Here are two steps are necessary in order to reduce the voltage difference between batteries before connection, and through these, the battery system can perform the best of it in series or in parallel.

①Fully charge your batteries separately.

②Connect your batteries one by one in parallel, and leave them together for 12~24hrs. And then, you can connect your batteries in series or in parallel to build your own battery system. BTW, for charging one 12V 100Ah LiFePO4 battery, we recommend a dedicated LiFePO4 battery charger, the DC charging voltage should be between 14.2V~14.6V and charging current less than 100A.

Q: 11. Can I connect 5 or 6 Redodo 12V 100Ah lithium batteries in series?

For safety reasons, we don’t suggest connecting 5 or 6 pieces of the Redodo 100Ah batteries in series. Our 12V 100Ah LiFePO4 battery supports up to 4 identical batteries for up to: 48V 100Ah battery system (in series), 12V 400Ah battery system (in parallel). We recommend connecting MAX. 16pcs of Redodo 12V(12.8V) 100Ah LiFePO4 batteries in 4P4S to build a 48V(51.2V) 400Ah battery system(“P” refers to parallel, “S” refers to series).

Q: 12. Does this bms have a low temp charging cutoff?

A:

This 100Ah lithium battery doesn’t have low-temp cutoff protection. You can check out our new Redodo 12V 100Ah with Low Temp Protection.

Q: 13. Should l leave lifePo4 battery connected to charger after it has been fullycharged, and will not be used for a while?

A:

Usually, you can leave LiFePO4 battery connected to charger after it has been fully charged for a while if your battery charger has automatic power off function. Redodo LiFePO4 battery has over-charging protection. But for the safety reasons, we suggest that disconnect the battery with the charger once it is fully charged.

Q: 14. I have two 12v 100Ah batteries connected together. Can I add a 12V 200Ah battery to this and will the battery capacities match? Or do I need to add two 12V 100Ah batteries?

A:

No, we do not suggest you to connect 12v 200ah battery to the battery system of 2*12V 100Ah battery. Although Redodo 12V 100Ah LiFePO4 battery and Redodo 12V 200Ah LiFePO4 battery have built-in 100A BMS, the capacities of two battery models are different. To connect in series or in parallel, batteries should meet the below conditions:

①Identical batteries with the same battery capacity (Ah) and BMS (A);

②From the same brand (as lithium battery from different brands has their special BMS);

③Purchased in near time (within one month).

So if you want to expand your battery system, we suggest you to add 2*12V 100Ah battery.

Q: 15. Can I connect 12V 100Ah and 200Ah Redodo batteries at the same time?

A:

We do not recommend to connected the Redodo 12V 100Ah battery and 200Ah battery together. Here are two main reasons why we don't suggest connecting batteries with different capacities: ①After parallel connection of batteries with different capacities, the current of 200Ah is twice as large as that of 100Ah when charging/discharging at the same time.

②The internal resistance of the 200Ah battery is 2-4mΩ, and that of the 100Ah battery is 7-9mΩ. When the batteries with different impedances are connected in parallel, it is possible to damage BMS after long-term use.

To connect in series or/ and in parallel, batteries should meet below conditions:

①The same battery capacity(Ah) and same BMS

②From same brand(as lithium battery from different brands has their special BMS)

③Purchased in near time(within one month)

④From same types of battery.

Q: 16. Can I connect six 12V 100Ah LiFePO4 batteries in series-parallel to make 24V 300Ah?

A:

Yes, for Redodo 12V(12.8V) 100Ah LiFePO4 battery, you can connect 6 batteries to make a 3P2S (P refers to Parallel and S refers to Series) battery system of 24V(25.6V) 300Ah.
